RESTAURANT WEEK 2016 : ADRIFT...

Restaurant week always comes around so quickly. This time I didn’t get my first choice of restaurant unfortunately.  However, I did get a table at Adrift, by Chef David Myers at Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

"A modern take on the vibrant Izakaya, Adrift’s flavour-forward menu includes small plates, healthy salads, seafood, and meats grilled over bincho charcoal on a traditional robata grill. Enjoy dishes prepared using fresh Californian produce, with Asian inspiration."

I’ve wandered past here a few times and always fancied dinner here. The food did not disappoint.

STARTER
Big Eye Tuna Tartare with ginger flower, shiso and tofu puree

MAINS
Miso Glazed Pork Chop with roasted brussel sprouts and spiced apples

DESSERTS
Spiced Chocolate Fritter with persimmon and ginger ice cream
and
Peppercorn Mille Feuille with sherry and almond ice cream

ARTEASTIQ...

What better why to get this blog going again, than to tell you about Arteastiq at Mandarin Gallery. Sarah and I spent Saturday morning there this weekend, as a late birthday pressie! I would definitely recommend this one!

We tapped into our creativity by painting with acrylics on a 50x50 canvas. I found the whole experience really relaxing and therapeutic.

I did find it quite daunting at first (being in the creative industry and all!) however, I embraced it, and decided to do something quite simple. A lovely turquoise background with a simple typographic quote which captured how I was feeling that day ... "take time to do what makes your soul happy"! It really was a very soothing experience. We followed it up with a lovely afternoon tea at the cafe next door.

It's $48 well spent! You get a 3 hour session which includes your 50×50 canvas, unlimited acrylic paint, a set of brushes that you get to keep ... so I could finish off at home! You also get to choose a delicious tea/coffee/chocolate to sip whilst you get arty!

Our session was nice and quiet. Only 8 of us in the studio. There were a few couples painting together and we also saw a Hen Party in the session that followed ours. It really is a great way to bond with friends and take some time out from what is usually a chaotic, busy schedule.
