MORE TEA VICAR...

Last weekend we decided last minute to have afternoon tea at Axis Bar at the Mandarin Oriental. It's been a while since I last did afternoon tea so was super excited about this one. It not disappoint. Firstly, the hotel itself is always a great venue. Every restaurant I visit here delivers on service and food!

With such an extensive tea menu it was really hard to pick which tea to have. I ended up playing safe... London Breakfast all the way! Teamed with a nice glass of bubbly!

The menu is a five course tea...and it's absolutely delightful. The first course, a light starter, is a Wheat Grass Jelly. It has an unusally nice taste!

The second course consists of three individual treats...
Apple & Mint Sphere with Organic Honey Creme and Passion-Fruit Coulis, Tomato Pest Quinoa with Feta Cheese in a Spinach cone (my favorite) and finally Crab Rilette Tartlet with Guacamole.

Third course are the sandwiches and wraps. Truffle Scented Egg White Salad Sandwich, Smoke Turkey & Gem Lettuce Mini Wrap with Pineapple, Mini Hummus Sandwich with Rye Bread and Tuna & Corn Whole Wheat Sandwich. The perfect bite-size pieces and all incredibly delicious.

So what's next on the menu? Every Brit's favorite. Scones!
Muscovado and Vanilla Scones and Lemon, Bluberry and Wattle Seed Scones. All served with Greek Yoghurt, Sugar Free Preserves and Lemon Curd. I thought of mum when they delivered this plate to the table. She would absolutely love these! They are accompanied by Samon & Petit Pois Pie and Chicken & Wild Rice Puff.

The finalé! The sweet stuff!
Banana and Rolled Pat Muffins, Chocolate Cake with Mixed Seeds, Sugar-Free Chocolate Mousse, Organic Maple Syrup and Pecan Tarte, Carrot and Pumpkin Seed Cake and (the healthiest of them all) Berry Skewers.

The sweetest thing about afternoon tea at the Mandarin Oriental is the price. For one person $42++ and for two people $80++. It is well worth it! We will most definiately be heading back soon!
